Accredited Certificate Programs
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Sanford-Brown Institute-New York is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).
The Pharmacy Technician program at Sanford Brown Institute-New York is programmatically accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
The Surgical Technology program at Sanford Brown-New York is programmatically accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Accreditation is a voluntary process which may be undertaken by schools to demonstrate compliance with specific standards designed to indicate a level of education quality. Each campus has been approved by its respective Institutional Accreditor to offer all of its currently available programs.
Broadly, across our Sanford-Brown campuses, over 60 programs are currently programmatically accredited. Some accrediting agencies require that a new program graduate its first class before the program is eligible for programmatic accreditation but we strive to run our programs according to the standards of our relevant programmatic accreditors and are committed to seeking programmatic accreditation for our eligible programs. This includes not starting the first class until the clinical site requirement is formally demonstrated, not over seating classes, ensuring the self-study process is part of the educational plan and making certain that the curriculum, facility, equipment, staff and leadership meet the programmatic accreditation requirements.
Cardiovascular Sonography / Technology
The Cardiovascular Sonography/Technology program is not programmatically accredited.
The Medical Assistant program is not programmatically accredited.
Medical Billing and Coding
The Medical Billing program is not programmatically accredited.
Credits earned at Sanford-Brown – New York are usually not transferable to public or private non-profit colleges or universities.

Sanford-Brown Career Training Programs – State Licensure and Registration
The following licensure and registration requirements are controlled by the individual states where Sanford-Brown career training programs are offered and are subject to change without notice.
In New York, radiologic technologists are required to carry a state license in order to practice. Graduates of SBI's Diagnostic Radiography program will be eligible to apply to the New York State Department of Health for the New York state licensure examination. State licensure/registration requirements are controlled by the individual states and are subject to change without notice to SBI. Other states have different requirements for licensure to practice, and some of these states may require ARRT certification. SBI cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible for licensure in New York, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment. Further, SBI cannot guarantee that graduates who obtain a New York Radiologic Technologist license will be eligible to obtain licensure/registration to practice in other states.
The state of New York does not require pharmacy technicians to be registered/licensed or PTCB-certified in order to practice in the state. However, PTCB certification and/or state licensure/registration may be required to practice in other states. SBI does not control state licensure/registration requirements in NY or in any other state, and cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as pharmacy technicians in NY or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
