International Academy of Design & Technology Announces Scholarship Winners

Two Top Winners of Design Challenge Will Receive $5,000 Scholarships

The International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) has announced the winners of the 2012 IADT Design Challenge, a nationwide scholarship competition. The top two winners, who have earned $5,000 scholarships for their winning designs, are Cedric Poole of Michigan and Terri Curtis of Missouri. Cedric currently is pursuing a Graphic Design degree at IADT-Detroit.

The five student runners-up, who will receive $1,000 scholarships, are:
• Don Gier, Jr. of IADT-Sacramento
• Gallagher Scott of IADT-Seattle
• Kristina Torres of IADT-Sacramento
• Kaylie Price of IADT-Seattle
• Raynier Badua of Nevada of IADT-Las Vegas

The five non-IADT-student runners-up, who also have earned $1,000 scholarships, are:
• Anna Aberle of Nevada
• Emilie Beck of Tennessee
• Leigha Shelton of North Carolina
• Amber Clark of Michigan
• Amanda Mentek of Wisconsin

“The amount of ingenuity displayed in all of the design submissions was gratifying,” said Erik Parks, Senior Vice President of Art & Design Education. “The creative industries are expanding, and IADT can be instrumental in developing the talent of these creative students so they can grow to become skilled professionals able to hit the ground running.”

Entrants were charged with creating a banner ad promoting one of four IADT programs: Internet Marketing, Information Technology, Retail Merchandise Management or Web Design and Development. Twenty-four finalists were selected by public vote via the Design Challenge tab on the college’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IADTschools. The winners and runners-up were selected from among the 24 finalists by a panel of judges comprised of school representatives, including graphic design and Web design instructors as well as marketing.
