        Program Focus

        In our pharmacy technician programs, students can learn the clinical skills and theoretical knowledge including working in a pharmacy setting under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Learn to prepare and dispense medications, manage patient records, and more.

        Course topics include:

        • Medical terminology, law and ethics
        • Sterile compounds, parenterals, and IV admixtures
        • Pharmacy techniques and operations
        • Medical and pharmacy information systems

        Student Life

        Students in our health education programs can benefit from the real-world perspective of our instructors, many of whom have experience in the fields they teach. Our curriculum also places emphasis on career-focused learning experiences that model the workplace and includes an externship providing supervised experience in the field, as well as laboratory, clinical, and lecture components.

        All schools have a Career Services department dedicated to helping students identify, clarify, and pursue their academic and professional goals.

        Finally, our schools’ Alumni Associations offer additional opportunities for students and graduates to make important connections—professional and personal.

        Field of Interest

        Pharmacy Technology
        The field of pharmacy technology provides pharmacists with skilled assistance in the preparation and dispensing of medications, maintenance of patient records, and provision of customer service.

        • Key Traits: Attention to detail, customer service skills, strong sense of personal responsibility, mathematics skills
        • Education Required: Certificate/diploma or associate’s degree. Further licensure or certification* may be required, depending on the state.
        • Where Pharmacy Technology Is Needed: Retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, outpatient care clinics.
