        Program Focus

        Our anesthesia technology programs help students learn the theories and clinical skills necessary to offer support to anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in a surgical setting.

        Course topics include:

        • Human anatomy and physiology
        • Pharmacology
        • Monitoring vital signs
        • Types of anesthesia
        • Medical law and ethics

        Student Life

        Students in our health education programs can benefit from the real-world perspective of our instructors, many of whom have experience in the fields they teach. Our curriculum also places emphasis on career-focused learning experiences that model the workplace and includes an externship providing supervised experience in the field, as well as laboratory, clinical, and lecture components.

        All schools have a Career Services department dedicated to helping students identify, clarify, and pursue their academic and professional goals.

        Finally, our schools’ Alumni Associations offer additional opportunities for students and graduates to make important connections—professional and personal.

        Field of Interest

        Anesthesia Technology
        By providing pain relief, anesthesia makes many life-saving procedures possible. Anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists need assistance in preparing instruments and monitoring patient vital signs during procedures: this is the role of anesthesia technology.

        • Key Traits: Emotional stability under pressure, orderly and methodical working style, ability to take directions
        • Education Required: Certificate/diploma or associate’s degree, plus post-graduation certification* (certification requirements vary by state).
        • Where Anesthesia Technology Is Needed: Hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, dental offices.
